We’re adding to the team!
Slow is going to add an analyst to the team, working with our partner Will Quist in San Francisco. This has become a critical role for us over the years. The work spans supporting a general partner in everything they need to do.
As an analyst, you’ll help: process new investments (participating in meetings with founders and assisting in due diligence), develop themes and thesis, getting more thoughts and writing out in the world, project manage core initiatives, maintain internal systems and projects, and generally deal with the random walk of life in venture. Importantly, this job is not about networking and deal sourcing, at least not directly.
The job does not come with a lot of structure and is best suited for very curious people excited to take the initiative and deliver.
Is this a long term role?
No, this is designed to last for two years.
What do analysts do next?
Really anything! Our goal is to provide you with as much context as we can on venture capital, startups, company buildings and investing in general. We want to help you plot a course and do our best to help you along.
Is there required experience or education?
No, though historically the role has worked very well with folks with just a few years of work experience. The ideal candidate is probably too entrepreneurial/curious for your banking or consulting job or wants a broader experience than what you’re getting at a startup but we’re not too particular.
Are there required skills?
You need to be super curious and favor getting things done versus doing them perfectly. Being good with excel, being a good writer, and having a general understanding of finance and a sense of how venture capital investing works will help.
Where is the role based?
San Francisco. While you won’t be in the office every day, you’ll get the most out of this job and we’ll get the best work from you if you’re spending a lot of time IRL with your primary partner Will Quist.
What does Slow do?
Good question. Our core focus is pre-seed and seed stage venture capital. We’re total generalists and have invested in everything from consumer internet to enterprise saas, from rockets to football leagues.
Sounds great! How do I apply?
